Vermont maple syrup is something that runs deep through Jessica Bongard’s veins and she’s (always) jonesing for a maple fix. *insert facial tic here* We are excited to have this native Vermonter hosting a series of fundraising classes for us for 2014, and here’s the first!
Says Jessica, “This class holds true to its title, and I’m no slouch. We will be eating a maximum amount of maple. And to acknowledge the “overload” aspect, there will be pickles available, you know, to cut the sweetness. But real Vermonters don’t need pickles.
This class is a fundraiser for Slow Food Vermont, a fantastic network of people who support Good, Clean and Fair access to our food systems. All profits are going directly to our local chapter. Learn more about Slow Food Vermont here. If you are a Slow Food Vermont member you will receive a $5 in-hand discount in class.
We’ll be eating and drinking our way through some classic and new maple dishes:
Maple Soda – maple water, syrup, and lots of froth
Sugar on Snow…and in a birch cone – a classic two ways
Eggs in Syrup – simple and delish with a couple of maple straws
Maple Baked Cheese with Roasted Nuts – VT cheese with warm maple taffy
You’ll leave in a sugar stupor with recipes and an overwhelming desire to brush your teeth. That’s when you know you’ve done this Vermonter proud.”
Thanks, Jessica! We’re happy to partner with you and can’t wait for this great class! Join us, everyone!
