Just Cook It! Potluck: SALT

Always looking for an excuse to try something interesting and fun, we have chosen to use a theme based on seasoning for our October potluck!  Salt has an incredible history – used as currency in some cultures, it is an essential mineral for all life on Earth; it is even used in several cultures as a guest-right ceremony – the ceremony of bread and salt. In recent years there has been a fascination with all types of salt from Himalayan Pink salt, to Black salt, to Trapani sea salt, it holds mystique across the globe!

There are so many things to do with these crystals! You can use it to open your palate (as in the case of sea salt caramels), you can even use it’s insulative qualities like in baking an entire fish or chicken in a casing of salt, the possibilities really are endless and completely inspiring!!  We can hardly wait to see the creativity flow at this potluck – we are even prepared to do a salt tasting and continue the raging dialogue on whether or not different salts taste any different at all!

As always, have fun, learn a little, and come ready to share what you have created!  Flex your cooking muscles and JUST COOK IT!
