Just Cook It! Grilling & Homemade Frozen Treats.
Just Cook It events are potlucks. They are free to attend. Just RSVP to this ticket so we know how many people we’ll be hosting. This year, each Just Cook It potluck will take place in a different location, this one will be in Fayston. These events are always packed and promise a good time, so if you haven’t attended one yet, please do!
This month’s potluck theme is all about Grilling & Homemade Frozen Treats. The sweet smell of summer seems to be a mix of smoky charcoal on a warm night, followed by an icy cold dessert. Not to mention freshly mown grass, a refreshing dip in a pond/lake and spending that time with people who enjoy the same thing. Bring either a dish to grill, a favorite frozen treat or both, we won’t complain! Surprise the group with classic or unusual things to grill, and same goes with the sweet stuff. Enjoy an evening with the foodies who like to take it slow all year long; grill and chill!
If you’d like to spend the day and see the parade in Warren, read on for more info on that.
For more than 100 years, both locals and visitors descend on this Mad River Valley town to celebrate our nation’s independence. The parade promptly starts at 10AM and proceeds down Main Street, then takes the right on to Brook Road (floats pull off the road, or continue up to Brooks Field parking lot). Be sure to get to Warren Village early to claim a nice spot on the lawn of one of the kind residents. On your way in, make a donation at one of the town’s gates and receive a numbered Buddy Badge. Stroll through town before the parade’s start and look for your matching number. If you find it, grab your new “buddy” by the hand and dash off to the gazebo in the center of the village where there could be a pair of matching prizes for you.
After the parade, there is a lot to see and do with festivities on the field until mid-afternoon. Live music and street dance follows the parade at Warren Store. Food vendors at village and school locations. Beer/wine at Brooks Field. No alcohol in Village area.
Note: The roads into Warren close at 8:30 AM to accommodate foot traffic. TheMadBus provides transportation Free Shuttle Buses are running from 8am until 4pm. Satellite parking for bus pick up is at Yestermorrow School on Rt 100 at Warren/Waitsfield town line and at Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush. Fireworks are at dusk atSugarbush Lincoln Peak.
