Elegant Grains and Vegetarian Cuisine
For our third Slow Food Supper of the year, we are highlighting grains! There are so many new grains being given the spotlight these days, and deservedly so! This is an opportunity to try your hand at cooking a grain that you never have before! Kamut, buckwheat, quinoa, sorghum, amaranth, millet – the list is extensive and vast, and the amount of things that can be done with these elegant members of our varied diet are quite inspiring! Try your hand at a porridge, a pilaf, a soup, a baked good… get creative, be inspired, and enjoy working with these incredibly beautiful and versatile foods!
We see this as an opportunity for cooks to flex their vegetarian cooking musles as well! Fermented grains can be a significant part of the vegetarian diet, and we wanted to recognize that this could be a chance to really showcase how grains can take center stage to any meal!
Please bring your dish plated and ready to serve, and please bring serving utensils.
Please provide a list of ingredients in your recipe as well.
Slow Food Suppers are potlucks, and they are always free to attend. Just RSVP to this ticket so we know how many people we’ll be hosting. This year, each Slow Food Supper will take place in a different location, across the state – this one will be in Burlington. These events are always packed and promise a good time, so if you haven’t attended one yet, please do!
We look forward to seeing you there!
